My senior team of 11 members have already been knocking out their Signature Senior Session! Their Signature Senior session, as part of my Spokesmodel Program, is up to two hours in length. I had the privilege of photographing my first session at The Farmer’s Daughter at Walston Pond Venue, and let me just say, yes, it was a hot one. Literally. With temperatures climbing into the mid-90s and the North Carolina sun not holding back, we powered through two full hours of portraits, outfit changes, laughs, and golden summer light. DESPITE all of these, the venue was a dream and WORTH EVERY BIT! I could not be more proud of how Ashlynn handled it!
Despite the heat, Ashlynn showed up ready to go. Armed with a positive attitude, multiple well-planned outfits, and that unmistakable senior-year glow, she embraced every bit of the experience. I always tell my seniors that no matter the season or setting, what makes your photos come alive is you. Your energy, your personality, your confidence! Ashlynn brought all of that and more. The small respites from the heat inside the beautiful venue definitely made it bearable. And on top of that, I had some of THE BEST laughs with her mom, Charlotte! I LOVE connecting with parents as not only people, but now, friends, especially when we have so many things in common!
As a photographer, it’s my job to make the process feel effortless, even when the weather isn’t cooperating. That’s where the years of experience (and my senior style guide!) come in handy. I planned each set of shots carefully to make sure we were maximizing shade and minimizing the time spent in direct sun.
The Farmer’s Daughter venue was beautiful with so much variety! Again, this was my first time holding a session there. Because I a full time vocation in music ministry (which I love!), I haven’t taken on weddings. My weekends are already filled and I know the time and stamina those long Saturdays can take! But back to the venue. Literally everywhere I turned around offered different scenery. From the quaint swing and fence to the silo and pond, every corner of the property offers a perfect mix of rustic and romantic. The golden light at sunset wrapped everything in a warm glow that made the heat worth it. Honestly, those last 20 minutes of sun? Pure magic.
At the end of the session, I was sweaty, sun-kissed, and incredibly grateful. Seriously, not just for the images we captured, but for clients who trust me, show up ready to enjoy the moment, and let me guide them through a memorable experience. That’s what makes each senior session so special to me.
So yes, we may have sweat through our clothes. And yes, I have may been mumbling not so nice things at the gnats taking over at the end, but in the end, we made art. And even more importantly, we made timeless portraits and memories.
Enjoy a glimpse into the HUGE variety into her session below. It doesn’t touch the fullness of her gallery!
