Meeting this Family

Before I go into detail about the beautiful moments in this session, let me just back up and shed a little insight into how I came to know this family.  Technology can be a little taxing, especially in a business.  As I write this blog and it has taken me 10 minutes to come up with a blog title.  TEN minutes!  This is not my skill set.  Yet, there is a method to all of the madness of keywording and blogging so I at least try!  After getting the swing of things with instagram hashtags, it paid off.  This family found me by one of them and immediately booked a session!  Shellie asked me about being a part of her girls’ senior session following that Fall 2020 mini session.

About these Seniors

These two ladies were IMMEDIATELY fun to be around.  They probably thought I was a little crazy asking them to pose and ‘look into the distance’ for a few solo images during their family session, but their images were suddenly some of my favorites.  So now, here we are at the end of their senior year.  After being homeschooled they venture into a world a little different, but one that they are certainly prepared for.  One plans to go to school for hairstyling at Wake Tech and the other plans on studying divinity/theology Liberty University.

The Session

Like many seniors, we began discussing ideas about their session which was originally set for Fall 2021.  It was a great thing we moved it to the spring for 2 reasons:  we could all breathe and not feel rushed and things were becoming green again!  Their outfits were stellar with SO much pop and ensemble!  Little things like their earrings matching and the glam of their nails!  The nails were also a talking point!  Libertie plays the violin and we both live for short nails, so pop on nails were PERFECT in this situation!1

We began at the Wilson Botanical Gardens.  If you have never been there, it’s a little gem in a Wilson.  As I dig more into finding my green thumb, I find that I am appreciating it more and more!

The pop of greens was exactly what we were looking for in the Spring season.  We spent time going back and forth between each of them.  After about 45 minutes, we headed to Historic Downtown Wilson. Linzie and Libertie changed on the way which is what I always suggest.  This gives them the most time out of their session!  They had my largest package so we had plenty of time and variety in location 1 before moving.  As we went downtown, the vibe completely changed!  We spent about 35 minutes in their second outfit after which they changed into their cap & gown.

Twin Moment

The moment that stood out to me actually didn’t happen in the moment.  It came to me much later as I was uploading their images.  I panned through each of them in a ‘keep/toss’ process that photographers refer to as ‘culling’.  Because I do this so quickly, I watched their footsteps together and the synchronization was SHOCKING!  Their mom asked for this cute picture of them holding hands and walking.  Shellie, this revealed the most beautiful moment of having twins.  A certain bond and connectedness that most of us will never experience.  I hope you take a glimpse at the collage and take a note of this beautiful moment!

Cap & Gown Session

With my highest package, or any package for that matter, any number of outfits or ensembles is possible!  It is the same amount of time and the same amount of images that clients receive in the end.  What I LOVED about their cap and gown (and what probably stands out to you) is the color. PINK!  Yes, pink!  These two ladies have been homeschooled so they are not confined to any color scheme.  So, they went with pink and wow, it was gorgeous!  Now, if you think this was the highlight, then wait!  Like I do with many seniors, I coached them on how to toss their caps together.  What to do, how to do it, where do look, where to hold their arms…..

The wind was a little present towards the end.

I don’t think any of us expected it, but Libertie’s cap ended up right on the stoop of a window out of arms reach.

Yes, on the Wilson Courthouse.  I never anticipated her scaling the walls of the building, but with Linzie’s help, there she went… with two Wilson PD slowly creeping by….

Needless to say, she was successful and it was the PERFECT ending to a great day!
